To personalize, we use capital block font for all lettering and uniquely appliqué the letters to the coat. THIS IS NOT FULL STITCH EMBROIDERY, BUT BETTER AND MORE AUTHENTIC. Pictures help us with layout and placement if we are trying to match an actual Fire Dept. Please email us a clear picture of the back of the bunker gear coat OR a picture you found online, so we can match it. Lay the coat flat for the most clear picture. Remember: Your Kid's Firefighter costume is not flame resistant, flame retardant, or water-proof and therefore will not protect your child against any of these dangers.
FAQ
Do you have orange reflective striping and/or lettering?
We order the uniforms already made, and they only come with the lime/yellow reflective striping. To change the striping would require taking the uniforms apart, which we are not able to do. We also do not offer orange lettering. There are a few Fire Departments that have orange striping and lettering. Many customers that want us to match their orange striped/lettered bunker gear love ours anyway as we can match the layout of the upper and lower back. While the color of the striping and lettering do not match, the rest does and still looks great!
Do you sell just the pants or jacket separately?
The uniforms are sold as sets which include the jacket and bib-overall pants. We do not sell each piece separately as we would end up with too many random pieces.
How are your uniforms better than others?
The quality of the fabric itself is high. It is a thicker fabric and almost feels like the real bunker gear. The Firefighter costumes you will find at party and costume stores and big box stores around Halloween, are all a cheap fabric that won't hold up and can't be personalized in any way.
How is your personalization process better than others?
We have a commercial embroidery machine that will do appliqué on the Firefighter uniforms. Appliqué is how the real Firefighter turnouts are personalized. Appliqué is an involved process starting with the design and layout of your text in the software program. Each location on the jacket has to be put in a hoop that holds the garment on the machine. Once the design is uploaded to the embroidery machine and the hoop that is holding the jacket is secured, the machine does a trace stitch. A fabric letter is then placed within the trace and the machine then does the zig zag stitch around the entire letter and so on until each letter is sewn down. Appliqué is very authentic and will last forever. The firefighter uniforms are so unique, that even once your child outgrows the costume, you will want to keep it forever.
What are the tails?
Many Fire Departments have tails that drop below and are attached to the bottom of the bunker coat. There are usually two types of tails. They either have rounded bottom corners or angled, with or without striping. If you are a firefighter and want your child's gear to match yours and your gear has a tail, this is usually why a customer orders the tail. The tails are time consuming as they are not part of the original uniform. We have to source matching fabric, measure, cut and sew each tail along with the appliqué embroidery. Once they are finished, they get sewn onto the bottom of the coat and end up looking just like the real tails.
Can you make a completely different firefighter uniform like a skirt instead of pants?
We don't make the uniforms, but do the authentic personalization of them to make them what you see pictured. Unfortunately, we do not custom make uniforms.
